It seems that someone has 'seen the light' in the US with the news that CBS will not be fined for the Janet Jackson 'wardrobe malfunction'. The controversial incident during halftime at the 2004 superbowl sent shockwaves around the country as not many Americans had ever seen a boob before! The quarter second flash seen by nearly 100 million people created widespread debate and condemnation as to whether firstly, they did it on purpose. And also, why they didn't have delays in place to prevent such a horrid abhorration going to air.

Well, from that moment on, they have put in place a time delay on all live sporting broadcasts and yes, obviously they did mean to do it. Considering that Justin Timberlake said 'gonna have you naked by the end of this song', and the gold trinket Janet had on her nipple, it was a dead giveaway. I know of women who wear trinkets through their nipples, but actually covering the whole tip is unusual.
There is also the strange hypocrisy surrounding America's view on Sex & Violence that perplexes most other people around the world. I'm sure if Justin bashed her on the skull a few times with his microphone then shoved it in her mouth and tried to choke her with it, then not much would've been said. Just look at the movies, they censor more sex (an act of love) than extreme, brutal violence (definitely an act of hate). I don't quite understand why they have such a bloodthirsty attitude for destruction and a total disgust of lovemaking. Why would they prefer to send thousands of soldiers to their deaths in a country they don't care about instead of just having countless orgies and minding their own business?

It's probably just the nature of the beast. If it's not the duplicity of the churches, the prudish American elders or the taboo's surrounding sex. It's the fact that the American youths are growing up following those standards, causing them to be exposed to desensitizing mass violence which they crave more and more. Who wants boobies when you can see someones head blown clean off?

It's a shame the country has gone down that path, i just hope that it is one trend that Australia never follows. Keep the nudity and it will surely quell our need to beat the shit out of everything. When it comes to pleasure or pain. Give me pleasure anyday!
