Creating Drugs!
July 23rd 2008 11:25
So some half-assed 'expert' on addiction, Dr. Drew Pinsky has come out and said that Heath Ledger was probably a drug addict. What was the guy thinking? Heath isn't even cold in the ground yet and we have this American freak come out with some sensasionalist comment probably only to make himself known. Wake up Pinsky, there is no point to condemn someone who is deceased and cannot argue your point. And what is your point? Are you trying to tell us that Heath was a freak and that it is highly unusual for Hollywood actors to indulge in drug use, regardless if it's legal or illegal? If so, wake the hell up, junior! Whatever the reason, it is a well known fact that many Hollywood stars take some kind of drug in an industry that often requires it. I don't want to condone drug use but i can understand how drug use has led to some of the most wonderful performances and creations in history.
One can't forget how LSD influenced the Beatles or how prescription drugs and donuts helped prolong Elvis's career. Would John Belushi have been as funny if it wasn't for his cannabis, heroin, cocaine and LSD? I don't think so! Then you must look at the unbelievable paintings of drug addicts such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gough.
If you turn the corner drugs have helped Robert Louis Stevenson create Jeckyll & Hyde and Percy Shelley to write poems that are like dreams. The list can go on forever and it's true that peoples imaginations have been so awakened on drugs that many great inventions have come about from 'altered states'.
So Mr. Pinsky, talk about town is that after Heath Ledgers performance on The Dark Knight, he may be in line for a Postumous Oscar Nomination. I am fully aware that drugs have killed many famous artists, but if Heath needed those prescription pills to help him provide such an intense performance, what is the point of bringing it up, considering he died of an accidental overdose? He was so into his role, it gave him nightmares and he didn't want his insomnia to affect his character, that's a true artist. So Dr. Pinsky, i have only a few words for you, shut the hell up, ok?
