It's all about ME!!

Can i call myself a writer? I'm certainly not an author...yet!
As a young teenager, i had enjoyed the printed words of people who were struggling to be heard. Beyond that i remember the joy in reading the stories from creative minds who took pleasure in constructing the imaginations of countless children. I, most importantly, was one of those children. And while it was Mr. Men books and fantasy books like Where the Wild Things Are that sent my mind to exciting places, as i got older my mind turned to darker places.I found myself revelling in the twisted mind of Steven King. To a 14 year old, he was a very sick man who conjured up unspeakable fears and inner torment. I loved that! And it only lead me to thinking that i could do better.
Of course i couldn't, but i tried. My creative writing teacher at school definitely wasn't fond of my violent writing style and i was left confused as to why Mr. King could make so much money and be so well known while i was just berated for possessing such disgusting thoughts. Apparently descriptions like 'With his rusted blade he proceeded to hack into his victims' taut flesh until he could open up his chest like a pair of cupboard doors', were the musings of a young serial killer. She suggested i should try something like Mills & Boon. I was a little annoyed but i attempted what she was looking for. Unfortunately, being a teenage boy only led me to write something as romantic as the pornography my friends and i had been viewing at the time. Not surprisingly, i got a similar reaction, i might as well have written Bloodsucking Freaks 2: The Final Suck.
In any case, i stopped writing and failed the subject. I didn't read novels or write for nearly 15 years when i decided to try and write a novel myself. I have almost finished it now and have enjoyed constructing it immensely. It's more a Supernatural Thriller than a Horror, but it does have it's moments. If it is successful, i'm going to find that teacher and staple a copy to her forehead. Pleased with the knowledge that i have become...an Author!!
