Mad for work

Yes, after a few weeks off, i have managed to find myself some work. After quitting my job 3 weeks ago, i took some time off to do some stuff around the house. You have no idea how disorganised and dusty a house can get when both parties work full time and only do a minimum amount of housework just to keep the place decent. This time i even moved things to clean under them, not just around them! As my major project of late has been building a fish pond, i have neglected the rest of my backyard to the point where there are more weeds than shrubs, not a good look! Unfortunately the cold weather doesn't just inhibit my ability to work in the backyard, it also doesn't help my level of motivation either. And it seems that every time i gear myself up to get out there and make things happen, the rains begin. Now i finally have a job, we seem to be having a few nice days, it almost is an inconvenience.
Of course there is a problem. Having contacted several agencies for work, one managed to get back to me. I had no idea how busy these workhorses of industry were, when it seemed that i was the one who had to keep calling to follow up on job applications and such. They could never see me immediately, it was often 'maybe next week' or 'we'll call you.' I was almost in shock when one of them did call back last week to tell me they had some work and i just needed to see them for an interview the next day.Holy cow, they must've had a few spare minutes in their hectic day to make that call! Anyway, i'm glad they did, and after a 2 hour interview, i was on my way. It only was 2 days later when they called me to let me know they had work for me. Pretty surprised since i originally applied to their ad that said they needed people to start immediately in a busy environment. It seems immediately these days means, eventually, maybe.
Well yesterday was the day when i was up and ready to start work at 7am. I must admit, that after 3 weeks of late nights and sleep-ins, it was a little bit difficult to achieve such an early rise, but i did and i got there on time.Despite the nerves and uncertainty, it turned out to be a great place to work and i enjoyed it quite a lot.
Then came the problem. I was told just before finishing time that they had a breakdown on another line which inadvertently affected the one i was on. So, guess what? I wasn't required tomorrow. Bummer! i never thought i'd be disappointed about not having to work the next day, but i guess after 3 weeks of not working i'd had enough of the easy life and wanted to get back into the swing of things, and earn some moolah. With that reaction i am certainly dreading retirement! Anyway, i called the agency today only to be told that they were still broken down but i would be called back as soon as they're up and running. I certainly hope so because even though i have things to do, nobody's paying me to mow the lawns and pull out weeds. Not to mention that it's good to talk to other people instead of chatting to yourself all day. It's not healthy. So fingers crossed i get a phone call at 5am (did i just say that) to say that i'm required to start back at 7am. If not, i feel that every day that i am not working i am going that little bit crazier. You be the judge!
