Within the question there is usually truth. WIthin the answer there are usually lies.

Merry Pistmas

December 22nd 2008 00:01

Here we are, only 3 days to Christmas and many people are relaxing, enjoying their holidays. WHAT? I'm obviously just kidding. Christmas is the most hectic time of year. If you haven't done your present shopping yet then you will soon know the nature of hell, and if you have you still need to buy groceries, or shop for those little things you have forgotten for your Christmas lunch. And in the meantime there are other get togethers going on.

You think you got smashed at the work Christmas party? Well, don't forget the countless other BBQ's happening as the weather warms up and people are using Christmas as a good reason to get together with friends and drink to the yuletide spirit. Alcohol plays a big part at Christmas as it is a celebration of the birth of Christ (if your into that sort of thing) and being an aussie, requires that like any other celebration, copious amounts of booze needs to be necked in the spirit of the traditional values of Xmas. In a matter of fact, i'm drunk now, and i plan to be until New Years. How's that for getting into the spirit!!
I love this time of year, not just for not having to work, not just for the presents i will receive or the joy that it instils in everyones heart. No, i like Christmas because on the day, i can engorge myself with more food than a 3rd world country has ever seen, sit on the couch afterwards with my fly undone, grunting and groaning about what a pig i am.... and still retain my dignity. Ho Ho Ho.

The feeling i get when i roll out the door, rotund, inebriated, my arms full of presents and a gladness in my heart that i don't have to see Auntie Ethel for another 12 months makes it all worth waiting for. Just bring on the New Year Eve celebrations to complete my gluttonous over-indulgences. Of course, like any normal human being over 16, it is an alcohol fuelled night of pure hedonism, crazy beyond boiling point and aimed to say goodbye to the old and in with the new....liver. You gotta love it!!
So comes the New Year. 2009, and 10 kilo's heavier, 20 cans over the limit and 30,000,000 brain cells less. With that combination i intend to make the new year positive with weight loss goals and personal growth promises to myself. But you know what.... these days the years fly by so quickly, i find myself doing the same thing every year. At the beginning of a new year i try to be an optimist, but by the end i just end up pissed!!

In any case and with a smiling face
i wish a Merry Christmas to all!!
And for the New Year, carry on the Xmas cheer
be safe, and have a ball.
